Glossary
- craft – denoting or relating to food or drink made in a traditional or non-mechanized way by an individual or a small company
- range – a set of different things of the same general type
- to turn out – prove to be the case
- malted – grain (such as barley) softened by steeping in water, allowed to germinate, and used especially in brewing and distilling
- barley – a hardy cereal with coarse bristles extending from the ears, cultivated especially for use in brewing and stockfeed
- oats – an Old World cereal plant with a loose, branched cluster of florets, cultivated in cool climates and widely used for animal feed
- rye – a wheat-like cereal plant which tolerates poor soils and low temperatures

- hops – a twining climbing plant native to north temperate regions, cultivated for the flowers borne by the female plant, which are used in brewing beer
- whirlpool – a heated pool in which hot aerated water is continuously circulated
- yeast – a microscopic fungus consisting of single oval cells that reproduce by budding, and capable of converting sugar into alcohol and carbon dioxide
- sample – a small part or quantity intended to show what the whole is like
- flavor – the distinctive taste of a food or drink
- faulty – not working or made correctly; having defects
- centrifuge – a machine with a rapidly rotating container that applies centrifugal force to its contents, typically to separate fluids of different densities (e.g. cream from milk) or liquids from solids
